Effective St Peters Back Pain Exercise: Bird Dog
Exercise for back pain: a common recommendation with good reason. Old Mill Chiropractic personalizes the most appropriate back pain exercises for each St Peters back pain sufferer visiting Old Mill Chiropractic to relieve pain best, bolster the supporting muscles like the erector spinae and multifidus, and regain function. Old Mill Chiropractic also tries to find exercises that are easy, effective in a variety of ways like the “bird dog” move!
INDIVIDUALIZED EXERCISE BASED ON YOUR SPINE
Chronic low back pain patients are not all made in the same way. There are numerous factors that contribute to their back pain situation. Each chronic low back pain sufferer must be evaluated individually as your St Peters chiropractor strives to do. It’s a known fact that back muscle function varies from a chronic low back pain sufferer to another. Differences can be found via a thorough examination which Old Mill Chiropractic is quite good at! The exam discoveries help shape an individual treatment plan with individualized exercise recommendations. (1) Know with confidence that you are an individual at Old Mill Chiropractic!
WHICH EXERCISE FOR WHICH MUSCLE?
Exercise is a frequent prescription for back pain patients…and with good reason. Muscles support the body and spine. A review of published papers on the effectiveness of exercise found that exercise was likely effective for chronic low back pain in comparison to no treatment, placebo, advice or education alone, electrotherapy, or usual care. Its effect was limited for function, but it enhanced pain and functional limitations outcomes. (2) Old Mill Chiropractic thinks our St Peters chiropractic patients would concur that benefits of any type like this for a condition that is said to be the foremost cause of disability globally for the past three decades or so, costing much in direct healthcare expense in addition to lost productivity, are valuable to seek with a little exercise. Start with one exercise (like the following one!) and build up to the basic 10 for back pain.
ONE SIMPLE, EFFECTIVE EXERCISE: BIRD DOG
Erector spinae and multifidi muscles often weaken with back pain, but they are so valuable for stability. Bird-dog (aka quadruped opposite arm/leg) is a 3-way effective exercise: toning the erector spinae while strengthening both the core and the multifidus. Start this by getting on hands and knees, stretching the left leg and right arm out parallel to the floor. Hold the position for a couple seconds and repeat on the other side. Do this 10 times on each side. (3,4) Talk with Old Mill Chiropractic before beginning any exercise though to be sure it’s appropriate for you!
